On Monday, Sept. 29, Madison County Central School underwent a school lockdown, due to a report of a student allegedly having a weapon on campus. As a precaution, the school was placed on a lockdown at approximately 12:05 p.m. School resource officers from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), along with school staff responded immediately and began to conduct a thorough search. No weapons were found and all students were reported safe. The school was released form lockdown status at 12:16 p.m.
“We want to remind all parents and students that firearms are strictly prohibited on all Madison County K-12 schools and Madison County school properties, including school buses,” said Roderick Williams, Coordinator of Safety for the Madison County School District.
“The Madison County Schools continue to put student and staff safety first and responds accordingly to all perceived threats,” the Madison County School District stated.
