Madison County resident Zack Sprenkle took part in the USA Powerlifting (USAPL) Raw Nationals competition this past weekend in Atlanta. Sprenkle won both his weight class (120kg) and his age class (18-19) by 50 lbs. Sprenkle placed 14th overall in open competition.
In the squats competition Sprenkle lifted 601 lbs, and in the bench press competition, he managed to lift 429 lbs. In the dead lift competition, Sprenkle successfully lifted 640 lbs, missing his previous state record of 650 lbs by just 10 lbs.
Although he is unsure when his next competition will be taking place, he plans to take a break in order to allow his body to recuperate.
Sprenkle is a student at North Florida Community College (NFCC) and plans to continue his education at the University of West Florida to pursue a degree in exercise science. He is the son of Hal and Ramona Sprenkle, of Pinetta.
