Mark your calendar for Saturday, August 29, 2023. The Mayo Writers' Ink organization sponsors the Suwannee Valley Authors and Artists Show. Local published writers and artists from Suwannee and surrounding counties will have their published works on sale.
Among the featured authors from Suwannee County are Delores Walker, Joan Radford, Dale Clark, Harriet Harrer, Tammy Mowrey, Jimmy Deas, Cathy Chewning and Mary Buchanan from Madison County.
Jimmy Deas is a retired pastor who draws from his forty-plus years of ministry to create the characters and stories of his Mark Thomas novels. His books are compilations of stories about people, places, and events written for his blog and weekly newspaper column.
K.D. Starling writes mysteries with cozy romance set in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Her stories center around family and friends in a small mountain town, Pike’s Mill. When she is not working full time or writing, she is spending time with her family, and learning to grow marigolds, caladiums and jasmine.
Mary Buchanan is a retired educator who writes contemporary, sweet romance novels that are a part of the Madison County Series. Her stories feature a group of best friends who face life’s challenges while residing in the land of wildflowers.
Delores Leggett Walker’s life is all about Family, Friends and…Fiction. She lives in the friendly community of Mayo, Fla. near the fabled Suwannee River and finds inspiration in the rhythm of the everyday lives of the people she meets. Delores is a former educator and newspaper reporter and periodically writes her Afterthoughts column for area newspapers.
Tammy Mowrey is a professional artist that discovered her God-given gift and talent at the early age of nine years old. Tammy writes and illustrates children’s books. Her first book, “Snaggletooth Sam” made the best-seller list on Amazon.
Joan Radford writes children’s books and memoirs of her family. She is a former educator who loves learning and writes inspirational books.
Jonnnie Kidd Whittington has written over twenty-five books. Most are personal books about her life as a minister’s wife and her life experiences. Her books also teach about the Bible.
Many other authors’ and artists’ work will be available. The event will be held at the pavilion at 208 Ohio Ave. North in Live Oak from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
