On Monday, May 22, felony court was held in the Madison County Courthouse. One of the many cases heard by the Honorable Judge Melissa Olin was the case involving Lamesha Hendry, 42, of Madison. Hendry had been charged for child neglect in May of 2019.
According to a report from the Madison Police Department (MPD), Hendry had been pulled over while driving a car at around 11 p.m., on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. It was discovered that Hendry had a suspended driver's license from Maryland. While the MPD officer was talking to Hendry outside her residence, Hendry told the officer that she had left her two children, ages three and five, alone in the house while she went to the store. At the time, Hendry's aunt and uncle took custody of the children.
Hendry was found guilty of child neglect and sentenced to 24 months in the custody of the Florida Department of Corrections. She was given credit for 60 days of time served. She was also ordered to pay $250 in court related costs.
