Following a brief spike in bacteria levels which resulted in a health advisory for Madison and Hamilton Counties, bacteria levels have now fallen back to acceptable levels. According to testing data from the Florida Department of Health from Friday, Jan. 8, the fecal coliform (FColi) bacteria level was 185 at both the Ga. 31/Fla. 145 (state line) and Fla.-6 testing sites. The FColi level at the CR-150 site was 109. The Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria level at the Ga. 31/Fla. 145 site was 98. The E. coli level at the CR-150 site was 175. The E. coli level at Fla.-6 was 185.
Pending the results from a second result in the acceptable range, the Department of Health is expected to officially lift the previously issued health advisory.
