Over the last eighty years, it has become an iconic symbol of Madison. Dedicated in June of 1944, to the memory of Colin P. Kelly, Jr., the Four Freedoms Monument symbolizes the four basic freedoms President Franklin D. Roosevelt articulated during his speech to Congress on Jan. 6, 1941.
