In response to requests, the Lee American Legion Post 422 will be hosting Veterans support group meetings, starting on Friday, Jan. 16. There will be two different sessions on that day. The first session will begin at 1 p.m. and will be open to any and all Veterans. There will also be a session that will be just for female Veterans at 3 p.m. The sessions will be facilitated by a licensed counselor from Jacksonville, Fla. It is hoped this will be the first in a continuing series of sessions.
There is no charge for attendance at either of the sessions and one does not have to be a member of the American Legion. Any Veterans from anywhere in the area are welcome to attend. The sessions will be conducted in partnership with the Lee American Legion Post 422, Madison County Memorial Hospital and the Madison Health and Wellness Center. The sessions will take place at the Lee American Legion, located at 266 Lee School Ave., in Lee.
A wide range of topics is expected to be covered, from dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), issue dealing with the Veterans Administration, transitioning back into civilian life and more. The women’s session will address topics and concerns more related to female Veterans.
For more information about the sessions, please contact Patricia Taylor at (850) 253-1907 or you can send an email to coach@mcmh.us.
