A Greenville man sustained injuries after an afternoon accident on Thursday, April 30. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) responded to the scene of the incident at 1:25 p.m., near the intersection south of State Road 53 and Harvey Greene Dr., and at the entrance to Greene Publishing, Inc.
According to FHP's report, a 76-year-old male, unnamed by FHP, was stopped in the southbound right turning lane south of State Road 53 at the intersection of Harvey Greene Drive. While another vehicle was traveling northbound on State 53, approaching the intersection, the 76-year-old male attempted a U-turn to proceed north towards Madison.
During the attempt, the male pulled his vehicle into the path of the 18-year-old Madison resident, who collided with the left side of the man's vehicle. The male was extracted from his vehicle and transported to a nearby hospital for care by Madison County Fire Rescue. The report states he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.
