On Friday, Oct. 23 at 3:45 p.m., Madison Police Department (MPD) officers responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Pickle Lane and E. Base Street, otherwise known as US 90. The incident occurred when David Fansler, 73 of Madison, entered the roadway from a stopping point on Pickle Lane. Fansler's white, four-door, Honda sedan struck an east-bound silver Toyota, driven by Lydia Postell, 26 of Fort Pierce, Fla. After impact, Postell's vehicle ran off the roadway onto the sidewalk, stopping in a church yard.
Postell's vehicle was towed by a wrecker and Fansler drove his car off the scene after the police finished their report. Postell requested EMS and was later cleared by the medical technicians aboard the ambulance. After being advised on what course of action to take, the parties involved parted ways. Ptl. Joshua Akins, with the MPD, was the reporting officer on scene.
