Local families are invited to learn more about Scouts BSA Troop 622, a youth program focused on leadership, outdoor adventure, service and personal growth for boys and girls ages 11-17.
Troop 622, based in Madison County, offers young people the opportunity to participate in activities such as camping, hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, backpacking, canoeing, swimming, climbing and outdoor cooking. Scouts also take part in community service projects, STEAM activities, career exploration, fine arts and leadership development while working toward achievements such as the rank of Eagle Scout.
Scouts BSA, part of Scouting America, is one of the nation’s oldest youth organizations and is designed to develop character, citizenship, leadership and mental and physical fitness through hands-on experiences and teamwork.
Troop leaders say Scouting encourages youth to try new things and serve their community with confidence and determination. Scouts also have the opportunities to attend organized events such as summer camps, jamborees and service projects while building lifelong friendships with fellow Scouts.
Troop 622 meets at Madison Creative Arts Academy every second and last Monday of the month from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Interested parents can contact Scoutmaster Melissa Wren at (850) 673-6279, Committee Chair Kaitlyn Ortega at (850) 464-2188 or Committee Member at Large Grant Hodges at (850) 274-4345 for more information about joining the troop.
