Greenville Town Manager Jim McCroskey submitted his resignation to the Town Council on Tuesday, May 9. His departure follows months of turmoil within the council, mainly concerning attendance, as council-members have recently attempted to have each other removed from office. McCroskey was hired as the Town Manager in November, 2016. He brought a healthy history of experience with him, previously serving as City Manager of Holly Hills, Fl.
McCroskey told Greene Publishing, Inc. that his main reason for resigning is that he wants to be closer to his family, who lives in Daytona. McCroskey informed the Town Council in his resignation letter that he would gladly remain in his position until June 30, giving them time to find his replacement. In the regularly scheduled meeting the night before he submitted his resignation, McCroskey was tasked with looking into the number of absences incurred by each council-member and, in conjunction with Town Attorney Clay Schnitker, determining their eligibility to continue serving on the council.
