I have always loved the Christmas season, even more so since I have been in college and don’t get to see my family as much. This year, my parents and I decided to take my grandparents to St. Augustine the week before Christmas to have a nice meal and see the lights. This trip was a lot of fun, and all of us had a wonderful time just being together. We had a lot of things planned, like taking a tour of the lights in a moke, which I learned is one of those little jeep truck looking vehicles with the top off, however, it had gotten too cold and too late to start that endeavor, so we cancelled it. We ended up just driving through the lights in my dad’s truck, and to really get into the Christmas spirit, I decided to take over the music and immediately blared Christmas hits from various years. Of course, I couldn’t just DJ, I performed each song as well and soon enough, my grandma joined in. These are the memories that I love making during this time. The Christmas spirit is not just about presents, but about spending time with friends and family and celebrating Jesus’ birthday.
Speaking of the man upstairs, I also had the opportunity to watch my Pensacola church’s Christmas service through their YouTube channel, which I shared with my parents Sunday morning. The worship team at my church in Pensacola is by far one of the best that I have ever heard, and their Christmas/Christian mashups moved me to tears. I am so thankful for the ability to share my church with my family, as well as spend this time with them during the holidays. Cherish these moments with your own loved ones, and stay in that Christmas spirit. This season only comes around once a year!
