This Sunday was a special church/spiritual day for me. It was the first time that I’ve been to church on my own, which was somewhat intimidating. However, my church is my home and I was soon as comfortable as usual. The message this Sunday was titled “It’s Not Too Late,” and it was delivered by a guest speaker who was amazing. He talked about the story of Lazarus’ death and resurrection four days later when Jesus came. The point of the sermon was to talk about the timing of God and how it doesn’t always line up with our timing because there’s a bigger picture. Jesus could’ve come earlier and prevented Lazarus from dying, but he didn’t. Instead, He brought Lazarus back from the dead after he had been gone for four days. In doing so, many other people believed in Jesus for the first time, which wouldn’t have happened had Jesus not let Lazarus die to begin with. So in our life, when it seems like God is just a little late in answering our prayers, He’s not. He just has the bigger picture in mind and wants to see His true believers hold strong despite the circumstances. The sub-message was about the stone that was rolled away from Lazarus’ grave. Jesus told Martha, Mary and others to roll the stone away and open the tomb, but they didn’t want to because of the smell of his decaying body, just like how we don’t like to actually confront the challenges and sins we have in our lives and hand them over to God. But we have to roll the stone away and reveal what’s inside in order for God to be able to do His work.
I encourage you all to reevaluate your life and your heart. Learn to roll the stone away and reveal the ugly (or smelly) inside. God already knows what’s there, but we have to bring it to Him in order to get on the right track.
