I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! I am writing this on the day of Easter, so I am still in the midst of celebrating that empty tomb. We didn’t have any softball today, so I was able to attend church with one of my best friends and, let me tell you, it was absolutely amazing!
Our pastor and our entire church crew tackled the Easter service in a different way than I’m used to. There were more songs and special guests, as well as more visual representations of messages that he was getting across to us listeners. One of those visuals included various forms of light. Our pastor began this segment of the message by stating how at some point in our lives, most of us have felt surrounded by darkness. At this point, every light in the building turned off and we were literally engulfed in darkness. He then pulled out a single mini flashlight and shined it across the room, discussing how we tend to look for the light in the darkness in worldly things such as money or hobbies. Once he put the flashlight away a spotlight was put on our pastor, demonstrating how even when we feel that we are surrounded by darkness, God is always shining His light on us. By accepting this light and stepping into the purpose He has for us, we can then be a light for the people around us. At this point, all of the lights turned back on to show how our own light can make the entire room brighter.
