The message we heard on Sunday was one that really made sense to me. We talked about kingdom identity and citizenship, as well as how we show that citizenship. I have talked before about using my platform for good, and our pastor brought up that very same concept.
The beginning of this year’s Olympic ceremony was quite strange and did not go over well with the Christian community. Our pastor discussed this with us, but spotlighted Christians’ reactions rather than the ceremony itself. He made some very good points, the main one being that the Olympic coordinators don’t really care what you post on Facebook or Instagram regarding the ceremony, so why use your platform to bring attention to it? Why shine light on something that you feel is not good? Rather than doing that, shine light on the goodness of God. Keep your focus on Him, not on worldly things. Make sure your kingdom citizenship shows, because that is a lot more important than your earthly citizenship.
