Well, I have made it back to Madison yet again! It feels good to be home and have the opportunity to be with my family. Today's column, however, is about the family that isn't blood-related. Now that I am back at work, I have started going to CrossFit with the 6 a.m. class (early, I know right), and I just cannot get over how great it is to workout with my CrossFit family again. When fall ball was over, our team workouts at UWF also ended, and my busy schedule had me lifting at 7 a.m., by myself. At the time I was fine with it since I am fine with doing things, such as working out, by myself (only-child syndrome). However, I didn't realize just how much I was missing having a group to basically die with.
I have done a lot of self-reflecting lately, and I have noticed there are times that I take things for granted that I should actually be extremely grateful for: having a group of friends to workout with, spending downtime with family (and not complaining about being bored), etc. In light of my wonderful CrossFit family and blood-family, I encourage you all to take a look around you and see if there are things you may be taking for granted. I am a big star person, and they were very bright and present Monday night. Take those little things in, don't just let them pass without a thought. Practice gratitude with everything in your life, and it will make those little moments even more enjoyable.
