I’ve decided to continue my teaching endeavors in this new semester, but instead of being in charge of a class, I am simply helping out a few different classes in the undergraduate department with grading and general advice. That being said, one of the classes I am helping out with is Introduction to Earth Science, led by a professor who was actually a TA for me when I was an undergraduate student a year and a half ago. When I found out I got to be his Teacher’s Assistant (TA), and that he had turned himself into a professor, my mind was blown. How cool is it that we get to work together yet again, except this time we are both on the payroll rather than one of us being students. Those types of connections are amazing to come by and experience in life. As we grow and expand our horizons, we can form connections in all sorts of ways, most of which have the potential to help us out later in life. Since I already had this professor as TA/instructor, it is much easier (and more fun) to have him as my boss. He has been working in the environmental field for a while as well, so he might be able to guide me on my future job hunt. Look for these cool little connections in your everyday life, and keep them in mind. You’ll never know when you may need to revisit them in the future.
