The C&D Bistro has had great entertainment for the past year. Gage Washington and Jake Driggers started playing there on the weekends to earn a little extra money. The boys have known each other their entire lives and decided to do this because they both love music.
Gage, who is 18 and attends North Florida College, plays the guitar and bass. He has been playing guitar since he was seven years old, and he occasionally sings. His favorite song to play is "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd. Gage commented, "It's not that hard to start doing it, you've just got to have a group of friends that know their instruments and are willing to put aside the time to learn the songs and practice."
Jake, who is also 18, starts classes at Florida State University in the fall. He plays the drums, piano, bass and also sings. He's played the bass for one year, the drums for five and the piano for nine. His favorite song to play is "Creep" by the Stone Temple Pilots, "although we probably don't do it justice," he adds. Jake commented, "Playing at the Bistro has been a fun and rewarding experience in the community."
The boys usually play on Fridays and Saturdays for about two hours, starting around 8 p.m. They play two or three times a month, depending on their schedules. They plan to continue entertaining, although probably less frequently as Jake will be going to college in the fall.
