On Monday, Dec. 21, at approximately 8:36 a.m., Charles Phillips, a wanted Madison County man, turned himself in to the Madison Police Department (MPD), according to an official MPD report.
Phillips has been wanted in Madison County since Sunday, Nov. 29, after officers responded to a shooting incident on Bunker Street, in front of Stewart's Automotive. The incident took place when the victim of the shooting noticed a red Rubicon driving recklessly behind him. The victim asked the driver of the vehicle to stop driving in this way, to which the occupants of the vehicle replied, "shut the [censored] up and watch out before we smoke your [censored]."
When the victim went back to his vehicle to leave, Phillips exited the passenger side of the Rubicon and fired nine rounds at the victim's Hyundai Elantra. The officer who responded located three entry holes and only one exit hole on the victim's vehicle. The officer also located nine spent 40 caliber shells at the site where the incident took place.
Phillips has been charged with attempted felony murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle, according to the official MPD report.
