Wintertime sure makes the mouth water for hearty bowls of chili and simmering stews, but many of the best soup recipes take a long time to fully develop a rich flavor. To me, chili always tastes better the second day as a leftover, and meaty stews don't reach the peak of tender tastiness for hours.
Many chowders, on the other hand, can be whipped up in about 30 minutes and still deliver a delicious bowlful. My favorite is Smoked Oyster Chowder. I
