The Jeffrey Siegmeister ordeal took another step closer to a conclusion on Monday, May 23, when the United States District Court, in Jacksonville, accepted a guilty plea from Siegmeister on four counts of his indictment. The four counts to which Siegmeister pled guilty to were: Conspiracy to defraud the United States, Interference with commerce by threat or violence, Fraud by wire, radio or television and Fraud and false statements. In the acceptance filing, it stated that “[Siegmeister] is adjudged guilty of such offenses.”
Next for Siegmeister will be his sentencing, which “will be set upon further notice.” It is estimated that Siegmeister could face up to 40 years in prison.
Siegmeister's co-defendant, Marion Michael O'Steen's trial is moving forward with a list of the defendant's witnesses, including Siegmeister, being filed on Friday, June 3. An exhibit list was filed by O'Steen's attorneys on Tuesday, June 7.
