According to an official Madison Police Department (MPD) report, officers responded to a shooting incident at approximately 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 29 on Bunker Street, in front of Stewart’s Automotive. The incident occurred when the victim noticed a red Rubicon driving erratically behind him and stopped to address them.
He asked the driver to stop driving the way they were. The vehicle occupants then threatened, "shut the [censored] up and watch out before we smoke your [censored]." The victim then said, "whatever" and went back to his vehicle to leave when Charles Phillips exited the passenger side of the Rubicon and fired nine rounds at the victim's Hyundai Elantra.
The officer who responded located three entry holes and only one exit hole on the victim's vehicle. Damages included the rear driver's side window, the front passenger side tire, the windshield and the left rear bumper. The officer located nine spent 40 caliber shells at the site where the incident took place.
The driver, who remains unknown at this time, is said to not have fired any rounds. However, Charles Phillips, who was identified at the individual behind the trigger, is currently a wanted person that has not yet been located by authorities.
