Through Friday, Oct. 10 Dog obedience training, with Heather McCall, will be held from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m., at the Lee Public Library, located at 7783 E U.S. 90, in Lee. This six-week dog obedience training course will help develop your dog into a well-behaved pet. Puppies 13 weeks of age and older are eligible to register for this event, and a six-foot non-retractable leash is needed to participate. Proof of vaccinations are required to attend this event. Attendance in all classes is mandatory in order to receive a certificate of completion. There are 10 spots available. The Lee Public Library, located at 7783 E U.S. 90, in Lee, will host coffee, canvas and conversation from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Coffee, canvas and conversation will bring a guided painting class where you can sip coffee or tea and converse with those attending. There are only 15 spots for this class, and this event is an adult painting class only.

North Florida College (NFC) and CareerSource North Florida will hold a career and opportunity expo from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. There will be chances for you to learn about various college programs, financial aid and meet hiring employers ready to connect. Friday, Sept. 12 The Madison County Parks and Recreation Department will be offering a Church Softball League, starting on Monday, Sept. 22. The entry fee is $350 per team and teams must sign up by Friday, Sept. 12, in order to participate. The deadline is firm, and no exceptions can be made. All players must be at least 16 years of age in order to participate in the league. There can be no exceptions to this rule, either. The Madison Local Market is back for the month of September. Madison Local Market will be held from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on the Madison County Courthouse Lawn, located at 125 Range Ave., in Madison. At the local market, there will be craftsmen, farms selling their local products, food trucks and various other vendors to browse through. During the Madison County Local Market, guests can walk through the vendor spots and browse local businesses. Madison Fla. Homeschoolers is holding a informational homeschool session on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 6 p.m., at the Madison County Extension Office, hosted by Nikki Hunter, Florida Parent Educators Association (FPEA) Regional Representative, with guest speaker Jason Crawford, the State Homeschool Lobbyist and Chief Communication Officer of the Home Education Foundation (HEF). During the homeschooling session, you will learn about homeschooling laws, state legislation affecting homeschooling, various curriculum options, how to stay organized and scholarships. After these topics are discussed, Jason Crawford and Nikki Hunter will hold a Q&A session. The Madison County Extension Office is located at 184 NW College Loop, in Madison.
