Roy Franklin Milliron, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, at the age of 83. He was born on June 22, 1941, in Tallahassee, Fla., to Roy Franklin Milliron, Sr. and Myrtle Bevis Milliron, but spent his life in Madison, Fla.
Roy was a member of First Baptist Church of Madison and was a proud graduate of Madison High School and North Florida Junior College. He also attended Florida State University and participated in the FSU Flying High Circus. After a period of serving as the Recreation Director and then the Assistant City Manager in New Port Richey, Fla., he moved back to his hometown of Madison, where he ran a successful real estate business for 30 years. He was dedicated to the community and served as a school board member, two times as Rotary Club President, Economic Development Director and twice as President of Madison County Chamber Of Commerce. He was instrumental in leading the Rail to Trails bike/walking path in Madison County, obtained the signage and dedication for the 100 mile bike loop throughout the county bringing cycling tourism to the county and successfully led the fight to preserve Madison’s beautiful natural resources by defeating the location of a hazardous waste incinerator within the County.
