On Thursday, Feb. 9, the Madison Rotary Club held their annual Chili Dinner as a fundraiser for the many community service endeavors undertaken by the club. The event was a tremendous success as the club raised over $2,000. In addition, many Madison County folks enjoyed a wide variety of chili samplings, from “mild to wild,” and everyone had fun in the process.
The Madison Rotary Club consistently puts the Rotary motto of “service above self” into practice. The local club has undertaken a wide array of service projects in Madison County, including building handicap accessible ramps through Ability 1st, providing disaster relief for hurricane victims across North Florida, providing help to A Women's Pregnancy Center, helping local school organizations, providing scholarship funds for local deserving students, and the list goes on. Through their support of the Rotary Foundation, the local club also provides assistance on a global scale by helping to provide clean drinking water in under-developed areas and fighting to eradicate polio once and for all.
The Madison Rotary Club is constantly looking for new members. They meet each Wednesday, at 12 p.m. in the Villa Maria Social Hall of the St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, located on Orange Avenue, across from Beggs Funeral Home, in Madison.
