T. T. Scott’s civic affairs spread to the state level. He was appointed to the Board of Control during the administration of Governor Fred Cone (1937-1941), serving through successors Spessard Holland and part of Millard Caldwell’s administration before he resigned. Scott worked to improve student conditions in colleges and universities. He became a trustee of Florida Southern College in Lakeland and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree by it.
