July is National Vehicle Theft Protection Month, and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is taking the opportunity to remind everyone of ways to protect themselves from vehicle theft. For many, a motor vehicle is the second largest purchase they will make, second only to the purchase of a house. For this reason, it is wise to protect such a large investment.
The MCSO makes these easy-to-follow suggestions:
• Always park in well-lit areas, especially at night.
• Stow any valuables out of the sight of potential thieves.
• Lock car doors and windows.
• Do not leaves your car keys in the car.
• Never leave your vehicle while it’s running.
Following these simple steps can help protect you from becoming a victim of vehicle theft.
