At just 23-years-old, Lane Peavy, a Madison resident and 2015 graduate of Madison County High School, has started his own business, The Native Chartering Co., to share his love for fishing and the outdoors with others.
Peavy has always had a love for fishing and has been trying to save money to start this business for about three years. This June, he finally took his first customers out to make their salt water dreams come true.
"As a kid, going fishing with my dad made me feel like a king out on the water," said Peavy. "I just want to share what I love with other people and I love seeing someone who has never done it (fishing, scalloping or boating) smile and have a good time."
Although Peavy loves fishing, he is available to do any activities on the water, whether it be in-shore fishing, off-shore fishing, scalloping, tubing, dolphin tours or sunset tours from Steinhatchee or Keaton Beach. He is willing to do multiple activities in a single day and will accommodate the customers as much as possible.
There is no need to worry about buying gear, bringing fishing poles or ice on a trip with The Native Chartering Co. Peavy provides everything you need to have a fun day on the boat without the stress of getting everything ready. The only thing Peavy asks his customers to bring are their own drinks and sunscreen if needed.
Peavy is planning to continue his business throughout August, then take time off until next summer. However, he plans to start back up in summer 2021. He even hopes to make this a full-time venture in the future.
To book a trip with The Native Chartering Co., call Peavy at (850) 464-7838 or visit The Native Chartering Co. Facebook page. A full day on the water (eight hours) is priced at $500, and a half-day trip is $300. Peavy is the son of Opie and Paige Peavy, of Madison.
