Peanut picking prepares the way for Founder’s Day

Dan Buchanan Contributor August is here, which means it’s peanut-picking time at Hickory Grove Methodist Church. For over 30 years, the church has picked and served peanuts at the annual Founder’s Day celebration, which is always held on the third Saturday of October. This year, it falls on Saturday, Oct. 18. Since we serve delicious boiled peanuts every year, we couldn’t do it without the help of Willie Agner and his family. They have always planted and donated the peanuts to the ch
