On Thursday, Nov. 17, two Madison County High School (MCHS) baseball players signed letters of intent to take their baseball skills to the next level. JD Bryan and Kyler Richie both signed their letters during a ceremony in front of friends, teammates and family in the MCHS Media Center.
Bryan is a senior pitcher with an overall earned run average of 1.81 and has thrown 170 strike-outs in 112.1 innings pitched. He has held opposing hitters to a .196 batting average. At the plate, he has an overall batting average of .282 while playing for the Cowboys. He has a total of 28 runs batted in, with three home runs. He will be playing baseball for Hillsborough Community College, in Tampa. He is the son of James and Joanna Bryan.
Richie has proven himself to be a very dependable batter for the Cowboys, with a batting average of .302 and an on-base percentage of .449. Once on base, he is always a threat with his base-running speed. He has a total of 11 stolen bases in his career while scoring 40 runs. He has also amassed 25 runs batted in for the Cowboys. He will go on to play baseball for the Panthers of Philander Smith College, a historically black college/university (HBCU) in Little Rock, Ark. This year will be the first year the Panthers have had a baseball team. Richie is the son of Eddie and Melinda Richie.
