The Madison Police Department and Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) are currently investigating a shooting that occurred this morning, Wednesday, March 7 on Mandina Ave.
According to the FDLE, a woman was found shot in a vehicle that was parked and left abandoned at Madison County Memorial Hospital. Shortly after, a man was located several blocks away who had suffered a gunshot wound. He is being treated at the hospital for a non-life threatening injury. The incidents appear to be related.
Due to the unknown circumstances of the shooting, a lock down was initiated this morning in the area surrounding the hospital, including North Florida Community College, James Madison Preparatory High School and the Magical Schoolhouse. Once law enforcement determined there was not an immediate threat on the community, the lock down was lifted.
Law enforcement is still investigating the incident and are in search for two others they believe to be involved.
