North Florida PAWS Inc. commends Madison County Animal Services for their dedication to animal welfare in their community and encouragement for pet owners to have their dogs and cats spayed and neutered to prevent unwanted litters. This is a win for the dogs and cats, the pet owners, the animal control officers and the shelter as well as the community whose safety is a major concern.
We appreciate them so much for supporting our Prevent-a-Litter subsidized spay/neuter program to help low-income pet owners and feral cat caretakers get their critters fixed. Prevention is the number one way to reduce the number of unwanted puppies and kittens from being born into difficult situations. North Florida PAWS, Inc. (North Florida People for Animal Welfare Society) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is simple and direct: preventing suffering by preventing birth. Through its signature “Prevent-a-Litter” program, the organization pays for spay and neuter surgeries for dogs and cats belonging to low-income pet owners and for feral cat caretakers across the region.
Through Prevent-a-Litter, PAWS provides spay and neuter vouchers and low cost rabies vaccinations for dogs and cats, including pets and feral cats. The organization averages about 500 spay and neuter surgeries per year.
Pet owners and caretakers contact PAWS through email or Facebook and submit a short application and request an appointment. If approved and the funds are available, PAWS issues a voucher that covers the cost of surgery at one of its partner clinic
