Ken Moore, the new Police Chief for Madison Police Department will start Monday, August 17. Moore is a Madison County native and he has 32 years of law enforcement experience. His most recent assignment has been with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for the past 13 years in Miami. During that time he has conducted investigations into public corruption, major drugs, money laundering, economic crimes and supervised investigations of officer-involved shootings. He is a former Marine Corps infantryman, probation officer, State’s Attorney’s Office Investigator and a police detective in Homestead, Fl. Moore is a graduate of Florida A&M University and holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. He fills the position left vacant following the departure of Chief Gary Calhoun, who resigned in November 2014. Captain Willie McGhee has been serving as Interim Police Chief. The City of Madison held a meet and greet on Tuesday, August 11 with Moore so the community could meet the new Police Chief.
