The transition to a new government for the United States is well under way. In about a month, Donald J. Trump will be sworn in as the 47th president (POTUS). Thus far, it is going both swiftly and smoothly, a far cry from eight years ago when he unexpectedly defeated Hillary Clinton to become the 45th President. Trump had to swiftly move from being a candidate to forming a government without prior experience.
There was also an investigation to deal with. Before taking office in January 2017, the FBI opened an investigation with the thesis being that Trump conspired with Vladimir Putin to “steal” the election. It was a fantastic premise fueled by a preelection ploy funded by the Clinton Campaign to undermine Trump. The basis was the Steele Dossier, a work of fiction created by a former British spy. During the transition, Barack Obama was briefed on the FBI investigation and approved it.
