National Security: Thule

Half a century ago, during my Air Force years, the end-of-the-world assignment was Thule AFB, Greenland. Renamed two years ago as Pituffik Space Force Base, it is 800 miles south of the North Pole. Both place names refer to native people that call Greenland home. It is hard to imagine how cold and inhospitable the place is. For half the year, the nation is in either perpetual darkness or daylight. That will mess with your circadian rhythm.
