Joe Boyles Guest Columnist One of the most popular music compositions for the 12-day Season of Christmas is Handel’s Messiah, an oratorio written in 1741. George Frederic Handel (1685-1759) was born in Halle Brandenburg. By the time he published the Messiah, the German-born musician had been in England for three decades where he would do most of his musical composing. This was during the Georgian period of English history. The American colonies would remain a part of Great Britain for anothe
