We think we know an invasion when we see it. World War II in Europe clearly began when the German army invaded the Polish border on Sept. 1, 1939. The circumstances were similar when North Korea invaded the South on June 25, 1950. I was caught up in the Vietnam War when the North Vietnamese Army crossed into South Vietnam with 200 thousand troops on March 29, 1972. More recently, Russia invaded the sovereign state of the Ukraine in February of 2022, and following the Oct. 7 massacre, Israel invaded Gaza to destroy the Hamas monsters.
These are military invasions, but what about non-military invasions, like illegal immigration? Illegal crossings of our southern border have reached epidemic levels. In the last year of the Trump Administration, illegal crossings were slightly above 400 thousand. In the first year of the Biden Administration, the crossings increased four-fold to 1.8 million. Now, illegal crossings are above two million annually. Two months ago, in December, more than 300 thousand illegals crossed our southern border, according to Customs and Border Patrol data. Since Biden took office, more than eight million illegal immigrants have entered the United States. This is by intention. The Biden Administration now refers to illegal immigrants as “newcomers.”
