I recall watching the first presidential debate in 1960 between Richard Nixon and John Kennedy with my dad. I was 12. Since then, I’ve watched nearly all the debates, some more memorable than others. I have never seen anything approaching the June 27 debate, between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. It was a wipeout. Biden did not appear, sound like or answer in a presidential manner. It is said that you can’t win a debate, but can only lose. By that definition, Joe Biden clearly lost. Can he recover?
Most of us have witnessed the president’s cognitive decline since he took office in 2021, and certainly over the past year. The White House and mainstream media tried to hide the apparent facts, but as the lyric goes, “you can’t hide your lying eyes.” Nearly 50 million people tuned in to the debate on CNN and simulcast on other networks like Fox News. The moderators did a good job. The evidence was clear from the start, with no room for the usual “cheap fake” spins.
