A couple of weeks ago, I went to the Madison Republican Dinner at the Church of God fellowship hall. I had not attended an annual dinner for the past several years. The reason I went was because of the headliner, Congressman Byron Donalds, of Naples, a candidate for governor next year. But there were other very good speakers beforehand, including the chairman of the Florida Republican Party and James Uthmeir, Attorney General, who recently took over the job replacing Ashley Moody, when she was appointed to the vacant US Senate post formerly held by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. It was a grand evening, and the catering service did an excellent job with the dinner.
As Floridians, we sometimes forget to take credit for living in such a wonderful state, but we are special. Florida is the third most populous state in the union, growing by more than a thousand newcomers every day. The rapid growth presents many challenges, but we have the government to address these issues, starting with our governor. Republicans, who have dominated Florida’s leadership in the 21st Century, can meet this challenge. Now, in traditionally blue Madison, Republicans are leading the way.
