“Missy’s Law” legislation filed to keep dangerous felons in custody

A bill introduced in the Florida Legislature for the coming 2026 session aims to keep individuals convicted of serious crimes from being released prior to sentencing. House Bill 445, titled “Mandatory Remand to Custody upon Conviction of Dangerous Crimes,” better known as “Missy’s Law,” was filed by Rep. Sam Greco, of St. Augustine, on Tuesday, Nov. 18.
