The folks at Tillman Funeral Home of Madison decided to spread some Christmas cheer this year by hosting a "drive-thru Christmas Celebration."
The celebration was hosted on Friday, Dec. 18, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Tillman Funeral Home of Madison, located at 379 W Base Street. Employees of Tillman could be found outside the building, handing out goodie bags filled with treats to those who drove through. They were also waving to people driving by, playing Christmas music and handing out calendars.
The goodie bags were filled with delicious treats, but the main event was the bicycle giveaway. Tillman was giving away eight bikes of various sizes and colors to anyone who chose to enter the contest. To receive an entry ticket, each person was asked to bring at least two canned goods, which were later donated to the Madison Food Bank.
Those who entered the bicycle drawing were separated into categories based on their age so they could get the right size bike. When all the cans had been collected, the winners' names were drawn from a hat and their bikes were delivered. Over 250 cans were collected and donated.
The bikes were all given away at the end of the night, and the winners were: Gessenia Jefferson, age 5; Jordan Cati, age 12; Journee Smith, age 6; Royal Gallon, age 4; Dontavious Solomon, age 13; Zoey Taylor, age 10; Ricardo Murphy, age 11; and Janell Givens, age 8.
