Madison public library hosted their monthly Wednesday Workshops with seed curator and library volunteer, Anna Stange. Her workshops are focused on teaching the community how to be better stewards of our resources and friendlier to our environment.
The topic Wednesday, March 8, was DIY Beeswax Food Wraps. The 100 percent cotton material used was dipped in bees wax and hung to dry. Once the material dried, the result was a beautiful cloth with a light wax finish that molds to anything it covered. Using the warmth of your hand to help wrap it around a bowl or container creates a sealed lid. The materials last two to three years and can be washed in lukewarm water. When they are no longer holding their shape, they can be re-dipped in wax and are ready to use for another several years.
The Madison Public Library hopes everyone will come out on Wednesday, April 12, at 4 p.m. for the next Wednesday's Workshop: Seed Saving: Demo and talk all things seeds. Wet and dry seed saving, open pollinated, hybrid, GMO, heirloom, determinate, and indeterminate seeds will be explained.
