On Friday night, Sept. 18, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) received a “Be on the lookout” alert (BOLO) from Suwannee County. The BOLO was for a vehicle and occupants that had reportedly been involved in an armed robbery at one location and shoplifting at a second location in Live Oak.
The search began when MCSO received a description of the vehicle and a limited description of the two suspects, with a warning that the driver may be armed with a handgun.
Madison County Deputies were able to locate the vehicle traveling west on US 90 in Madison before turning onto State Rd. 6. Deputies conducted a felony traffic stop and successfully secured the occupants without any further incidents. MCSO held the suspects while waiting for investigators from the Live Oak Police Department (LOPD) to arrive.
The two men, Nathaniel Lee and Marcus Weatherspoon, where both booked by the LOPD at 11:30 p.m. that evening, on separate charges of Petty Theft. Weatherspoon received a charge of misdemeanor petty theft (less than $750) in the first degree, and Lee received two charges of misdemeanor petty theft (not specified first offense) in the second degree. Lee was held without bond for one of his charges and is still in custody awaiting arraignment. Weatherspoon was released the next day on a $3500 bond.
