Madison County Memorial Hospital Emergency Room/Operating Room Nurse Manager Michael Creech hasn’t spent his entire career as a nurse, but he has been in the medical field for close to 13 years. Creech began his career as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) before going into nursing. Regardless of what job he may have been performing, one thing has remained constant for Creech. “Knowing I have made a difference in the lives of patients is a big part of what I enjoy about what I do,” said Creech. “That was true no matter if I was working as an EMT or as a nurse. I often have people recognize me from the care they receive. It feels good to know I have been able to make a positive difference for them and their families.”
The Live Oak, Fla. native received training at Gateway College, formerly Lake City Community College, where he also earned his Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. He says the advice he would give to any young person entering into the nursing field is to “go for what you want.” Creech stated that there are many options and possibilities open to nurses to go into specific areas of nursing. “Sometimes people will suggest one area of nursing over another, but you have to figure out what you enjoy,” added Creech.
When not providing medical care to patients, Creech enjoys spending time with his family, which includes his two children, ages nine and 14. He also enjoys various sports, as well as hunting and fishing.
