Four leaf clovers were popping out all over during the Madison Woman’s Club March meeting.
Following the club’s traditional opening with the Pledge of Allegiance, the singing of “God Bless America” and the recitation of the club’s creed, Florida Smith shared a wonderful devotional about the value of children. Club members then enjoyed a wonderful lunch, featuring chicken and dressing.
After lunch, Jenny Starling, a volunteer with the Women’s Pregnancy Center, in Madison, spoke to Club members about the services provided to young women who need a helping hand as they face unplanned pregnancies. This assistance includes pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, counseling, encouragement groups and basic supplies for newborns.
Starling shared her personal reasons for becoming involved in the center’s outreach and how much she enjoys being a part of this opportunity to help these young women of Madison County. The Center has also helped a few young ladies who came from other areas because they were brought in by local friends or family.
Club members brought “good luck” to the Pregnancy Center with gifts and supplies for the center as their service project for the month of March. Starling was overwhelmed by the table full of diapers, blankets and other baby items.
As part of her presentation, Starling shared how club members could continue to support the center by filling baby bottles with loose change, and/or donating supplies for the “Baby’s Room” - a room where baby items are available to the young mothers-to-be and mothers who are participating in the center’s programs.

Following Starling’s presentation, the business portion of the meeting was held.
The Madison Woman’s Club meets at 11:45 a.m. on the second Thursday of each month. The club is located at 345 SE Lakeshore Dr., in the Lake Frances area.
