Those who have not been fortunate enough to have had Beth Moore’s famous chicken and rice dinners have an opportunity to alleviate that and support a great cause at the same time. On Thursday, Jan. 11, Lee Methodist Church will be hosting a chicken and rice dinner to benefit the family of Maria Gilbert, a local cancer patient. Moore will be preparing her famous chicken and rice dinners, which will include chicken and rice, green beans, a roll, dessert and a drink, at Four Freedoms Park, in downtown Madison, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. There is no set price for the dinners, as they are being made available for donations only.
Gilbert was diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer soon after her 39th birthday, in August of 2023. Since that time, she has received chemotherapy treatments. Although her future remains uncertain, it is certain that numerous expensive medical costs have resulted in and continue to be a hardship for her family. In order to help, Lee Methodist Church has launched “Madison Mission Maria,” as a way of helping the family through this difficult time.

Anyone wishing to make a financial contribution may do so through a special account set up at Madison County Community Bank under the name Elizabeth Gilbert.
