How do we have a Trump boat parade, when we are a land-locked county? It immediately generated excitement as something we should do. The answer came after much discussion at the September Republican Executive Committee meeting. It morphed into what we dubbed, the 'Trump Convoy'.
We had two starting points proposed, one to the east in Lee and one to the west in Greenville with both starting points on US Hwy 90. With a preconceived route and logistics in place, we arrived in Madison simultaneously passing each other in front of Four Freedoms Park. The convoy looped through town with the final destination point being Lake Francis where a bring your own picnic lunch was enjoyed. There was music provided by Jake Driggers and Gage Washington that added to the fun and joyous atmosphere. Candidates present at the lake who addressed the crowd were Gary Adler, candidate for US Congress, Heath Driggers, candidate for Supervisor of Elections and David Harper, candidate for Sheriff.
All participants gave it a 2-thumbs up and reveled in the camaraderie. Many commented, "It was just a FUN time." This event drew over 75 vehicles including motorcycles, trailered watercrafts, antique cars and even a 1951 Ford fire engine. Riding high on that engine was our very own Trump personage, and support team. Flags and signs were plentiful for our country, our President and law enforcement. Many thanks to all who participated and showed off Madison's patriotic spirit.
