The Madison County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is actively investigating a rash of recent mail thefts stolen directly from mailboxes. Most of the reported mail thefts occurred on the east side of the county. Although many of the current reported mail thefts are from victims residing in the eastern parts of Madison County, the MCSO is requesting all residents in Madison County to remain alert and closely monitor their mail. If anyone is expecting credit cards or other forms of payment via mail, it is suggested to check with your financial institutions and closely monitor all personal financial accounts for suspicious and fraudulent activity. If anyone has recently mailed any form of payment from their mailbox, including holidays or birthday cards that included a financial gift or gift cards, it is further recommended to contact the intended recipient and confirm receipt.
