The Madison County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) has announced that James “Billy” Brown has been named the 2022 Florida SWCD Supervisor of the Year. Brown received his award during the annual meeting of the Association of Florida Conservation Districts (AFCD) in February of this year. Brown currently serves as the chairman of the Madison SWCD.
Another Madison County resident, Buck Carpenter, was voted in as the 2023 AFCD President. Carpenter serves as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Madison SWCD.
The Madison SWCD is one of 54 active Soil & Water Conservation Districts in the State of Florida. The Madison SWCD is an agricultural partner between local farmers, ranchers and producers as well as local and state agencies assisting local landowners with the implementation of agricultural best management practices (BMPs), cost-share programs and educational outreach.
