Madison County remains clear of CWD in deer population

Mickey Starling reporter3@greenepublishing.com With the recent confirmation of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) in Valdosta, Ga., area hunters have reason for caution as they enjoy deer season this year. So far, no reports of the always-fatal disease have been confirmed in Madison or surrounding counties. CWD is a neurodegenerative disease that affects deer, elk, moose, caribou and other cervids. It hasn’t been shown to infect people, although the Florida Wildlife Commission (FWC) advises agai
